The mosquito net distribution drive has been done under the National Initiative: PARTNERSHIPS, COLLABORATIONS & ASSOCIATIONS. FICCI FLO Bhubaneswar organized a collaborative initiative with Rays Foundation, which aimed at addressing the alarming rise in vector-borne diseases like dengue and malaria in vulnerable communities.
This drive seeks to protect low-income households and rural areas, which are often most affected due to a lack of adequate resources for disease prevention. That is the reason we have conducted the drive at Gandiabandha Village, Belpadia, Bhagatpur, Tangi, Cuttack District.
As part of the initiative, high-quality, insecticide-treated mosquito nets were distributed to families in identified high-risk zones. The distribution was preceded by awareness sessions where community members were educated on the importance of mosquito-borne disease prevention, proper usage of the nets, and other safety practices, such as eliminating stagnant water and maintaining cleanliness in and around their homes.
FICCI FLO Bhubaneswar members and Rays Foundation volunteers, along with local health officials, worked together to ensure a systematic distribution of the nets. The drive was particularly focused on areas where cases of dengue had surged, and special attention was given to children, pregnant women, and the elderly, who are more susceptible to the diseases.
In addition to the distribution, the event also included a demonstration on the proper maintenance of the nets and discussions about community efforts to control mosquito populations. The initiative reflects a shared commitment by FICCI FLO Bhubaneswar and Rays Foundation to not only address immediate health concerns but also to contribute to long-term health and safety by fostering a culture of disease prevention and awareness.
Through this collaboration, both organizations aim to reduce the incidence of mosquito-borne diseases, thereby promoting healthier living conditions and contributing to a more resilient community.
