FICCI FLO Chennai’s Collaboration with SAWiT and Guvi for Skilling 10 Million Girls and Women in AI

FLO Chennai, in partnership with the South Asian Women in Tech (SAWiT) Network and Guvi, an HCL company, has launched a groundbreaking initiative in India aimed at skilling 10 million girls (grade 10 and above) and women professionals in foundational Generative AI on September 2024.

FLO Chennai impacted colleges such as Sathyabama University, Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology, and Hindu College. This ambitious project seeks to demystify AI and make it accessible to women, even those from non-technical backgrounds or in non-technical roles, with no coding knowledge or experience required.

FLO Chennai has contributed significantly to this initiative by engaging with

  • 1793 students at Sathyabama University
  • 294 students from Rajalakshmy Institute of Technology
  • 381 students from Hindu College

Total number of participants is 2,468.

The SAWiT Learnathon includes two preparatory courses as foundational learning: “Introduction to Gen AI” (4 hours), and “Python Zero to Hero” (11 hours). Upon completion of the Learnathon, participants will receive a certificate endorsed by Google, AICTE, and HCL Tech.

Additionally, participants will benefit from $35 worth of monthly Google Cloud Skills Boost credits, offering unrestricted access to AI courses and hands-on labs, furthering their learning journey.

This initiative has multiple impacts. Participants will develop their own AI applications using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technology, a key component of popular conversational AI chatbots and voicebots.

Participants will receive a free SAWiT.AI Event Pass and a one-year SAWiT Basic Corporate Membership. They will also benefit from networking and mentorship opportunities, connecting them with industry experts. This initiative aims to empower women to thrive in the digital world, fostering a generation of motivated and resilient individuals.

Impact: 2468 female students
