An administrative darbar “Face to Face with Government” was organised in the capital on February 27, 2010 by FLO.
The speakers were high-profile IAS Officers and dignitaries from the government, namely, Mr. Rakesh Mehta, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of NCT of Delhi; Mr. P. K. Tripathi, IAS, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Commonwealth Games; Mr. K.S. Mehra ,IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD); Mr. Chetan B. Sanghi, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary Industries, Government of NCT of Delhi; Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS, Special Secretary to Chief Minister, Dept of Archaeology and Bhagidari; and Ms. Rashmi Singh, Mission Director, Samajik Suvidha Sangam, Programme Management Unit, Delhi Secretariat.
The programme was a forum for the audience to ask questions and interact with the speakers. Some of the issues discussed included protection of heritage sites, importance of participatory and inclusive governance, restructuring of the public offices for better performance and accountability, need for public-private partnerships in various sectors, how education creates wealth and why HR practices should evolve across industries to enable creation of wealth and not just money, and whether Delhi was well-prepared to host the Commonwealth Games and how far the city would benefit from this mega event in the long run.
