Detailed Report of the Royal Crafts Exhibition

FLO Jaipur, under the leadership of Ms. Raghushree Poddar, in collaboration with the World Crafts Council – Asia Pacific Region (WCC-APR) and the Garment Exporters Association of Rajasthan (GEAR), hosted the Royal Crafts Exhibition, at the Rajasthan International Centre (RIC), Jaipur, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Indian craftsmanship and textiles.

The event attracted over 5000 participants, including foreign delegates, Jaipur residents, and FLO members, offering a platform to celebrate and promote India’s craftsmanship globally which allowed artisans to receive visibility, networking opportunities, and recognition for their skills.

The exhibition marked the 60th anniversary of the World Crafts Council (WCC). Attendees included Vice Presidents and advisors from WCC-APR Sub Regions, representing Turkmenistan, Australia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Kyrgyzstan, India, Uzbekistan, Malaysia, Singapore, and Aotearoa New Zealand. The event was joined by Smt. Diya Kumari Ji, Honourable Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan as the Chief Guest, along with the Founder of FLO Jaipur Ms Neeta Boochra, WCC-APR members, FLO members, GEAR members, and other international delegates.

Esteemed dignitaries from the World Crafts Council-Asia Pacific Region also joined the exhibition including Mr Aziz Murtazaev (President WCC-APR), Mr. Dileep Baid (Chairman EPCH & Dileep Group of Companies), Ms. Vandana Bhandari (Author and Educator), Geetanjali Kasliwal (Founder of Anantaya, moderated the enriching discussion on Craft Marketing) and Ms. Manjari Nirula (Advisor, World Crafts Council- AISBL and Advisor & Honorary Member WCC- APR, Past President of Delhi Crafts Council and Vice President of Crafts Council of India).

Smt. Diya Kumari Ji delivered a keynote address highlighting the significance of preserving Indian crafts and applauding artisans for their role in safeguarding cultural heritage.

40 renowned brands presented a mix of traditional and contemporary artistry, and 40+ international delegates explored the exhibits, engaging with artisans and discovering the diversity of Indian crafts. Members were inspired by Gaurang Shah’s unparalleled journey in preserving and transforming India’s textile legacy.

Mr Gaurang Shah, a National Award-Winning Textile Designer known for reviving India’s weaving traditions and collaborating with over 7,000 weavers across 16 states, conducted an insightful session. He shared insights on techniques behind Jamdani weaves, Ikat art, and embroidery, styling inspirations drawn from his 40 internationally curated shows, display of 20 exclusive sarees, handpicked collections, and showcased the artistry of international designers and artisans.

The second day of the Royal Crafts Exhibition concluded with an indelible mark on artisans, designers, and craft enthusiasts. The event continued to spotlight the richness of Indian craftsmanship while fostering cultural exchanges and global appreciation. The second day was built on D’s first day’s momentum, featuring the largest curated crafts exhibition-cum-sale. The event attracted notable dignitaries such as:

● Wives of former DGPs of Haryana and Rajasthan.
● General Secretary’s wife.
● Dignitaries from the World Crafts Council and international delegates.

Hosted for WCC dignitaries and foreign delegates, the dinner featured notable guests like Ms Aradhana from Assam, Designer Gunjan Jain, and FLO Jaipur Founder Ms Neeta Boochra and the FLO Executive Committee.
