Have you noticed that travel is the only thing you buy that actually makes you richer? Of course, being rich is a relative term for most of us, but an ‘enriched’ life – that’s a goal all of us aim for.
On 25th July, our members got a bird’s eye view of the myriad ways that travel has evolved over the years at a panel discussion on the subject.
Just the way travel needs to have an extra spark, our venue too was a casual office atmosphere at the We Works Galaxy- the new-age way of working, where you just plugin, find your cozy nook and even bring along your pet for comfort!

Nat Geo Expeditions has just entered the Indian market, and at the right time, since the travel market is a booming one, with people opting for new-age travel with an extra edge. The newer locations that they head for are places like the Galapagos Islands, the Polar regions, Iceland, Tanzania and even more remote locations that never existed previously. Vijay Nair elaborated that the travel entails small-ship voyages and classic train trips to family adventures and globe-hopping expeditions by private jet to these exotic places. And what’s more your guide on this curated tour will be a Nat Geo expert who could be an archaeologist, photographer or explorer depending on the chosen itinerary.
Vithika Agarwal, added that travel destinations had definitely evolved to more exotic locales however insisted that families should prioritize and choose a place that all guests are comfortable to fly to. Even though places like Turkey, Morocco, and Thailand are hot favorites, the most favorite choices have always remained Goa and Rajasthan with the Indians. Savitha Nanjappa, who was just back from Bali ( on work) gave the audience great advice on the benefits of changing your normal work meetings into a working holiday. The added benefits of working together in a calm and new place definitely open up the mind and gives an immense boost to the morale of employees.
She also added that if there is one thing every woman needs to tick off her bucket list, it has to be a solo travel expedition. Chef Abhijit Saha, a familiar face to all Bangaloreans expressed his delight at the way tastebuds among his clientele has changed over the years, all thanks to travel. “There is truly no greater teacher than travel” he reiterated.
As a young student, he was the youngest chef to be sent to Switzerland, and from then on there has been no looking back. The evening concluded with an amazing high tea spread by our own member, Anshu Jhunjhunwala ( Food For Thought ) who had an array of delectables from Khao Swuey to fish fingers and sliders.
