Creative Leadership interact with Priya Paul, Chairperson ApeejaySurrendra Park Hotel

We had an opportunity to interact with one of the most revered personalities in the hospitality industry, an art collector and a design aficionado. Priya Paul is a creative powerhouse behind the country’s leading collection of contemporary luxury boutique hotels, The Park.

Our dialogue with Padma Shree Priya Paul was inspiring: starting off as a young intern, gaining an understanding of operations, overcoming obstacles at various stages and to being listed as one of India’s 50 most powerful businesswomen! All of us learnt a lot from her remarkable journey.

She also shared with our members her philosophy on leading teams, decision-making, taking risks and work-life balance. She said that,“leadership requires different things at different times. I think I have a good “people instinct” and I enjoy working with people. But I’m also not afraid to make decisions and I think you have to be courageous as a leader to make decisions whether they are bad or good. And you have to perform and stick by your decisions.” She urged all of us to view things outside the box and try to create something different.
