Crafting Connections: A Transformative Journey from Green Building to Khurja Pottery

Under the visionary leadership of FICCI FLO’s 41st National President, Ms. Joyshree Das Verma, members embarked on a remarkable day-long experiential journey to explore sustainability, skill development, and traditional craftsmanship.

Graciously hosted by Ms. Namita Gautam, Past President FLO & Director at Sheela Foam Ltd., the trip brought together 102 FLO members for a day of learning, networking, and inspiration.

The day began with a warm welcome and breakfast at Sleepwell Tower, where Ms. Kiran Raghuvanshi and Ms. Shaili Tyagi shared insights into Sheela Foam’s legacy of sustainability, showcasing the Platinum LEED Green Building and a digital transformation demo by STAQO, a subsidiary of Sheela Foam Ltd.

From Noida, the delegation travelled to the Sleepwell Foundation Skill Development Center (SDC) in Mirpur, Khurja, where they were greeted with enthusiasm by the SDC team. A special showcase by young female trainees in fashion design and beauty skills, supported by a Lakmé collaboration, highlighted the transformative impact of skill-building programs. The energy of the event soared as members and President Joyshree Das Verma actively engaged in joyful activities, making the experience both memorable and meaningful. The President also took the opportunity to felicitate winners of various interactive games, adding to the spirit of celebration.

The final leg of the journey led members to the renowned Minhas Pottery Factory, where they immersed themselves in the rich legacy of Khurja’s iconic ceramic artistry. Artisans shared intricate techniques behind their craft, offering a rare glimpse into the dedication and skill that make Khurja pottery world-famous. Members indulged in shopping handcrafted ceramics, bringing home a piece of this artistic heritage.

The journey concluded with a deep sense of fulfilment, reflecting FLO’s commitment to sustainability, skill-building, and cultural preservation. This initiative, made possible through the gracious support of Ms. Namita Gautam, was more than just a visit- it was a powerful reminder of how innovation, tradition, and empowerment can converge to create lasting impact.
