FLO Northeast organized talk on Constitutional and Legal Remedies Available to Women by Advocate Rakhee Chowdhury of Gauhati High Court. The programme was organized at K.C. Das Commerce College, Guwahati.
Advocate Rakhee Chowdhury highlighted on various issues related to constitutional and legal remedies available to citizens of India, with special reference to those pertaining to women. FLO members and the student of KC Das Commerce College attended the talk.
Monisha Baruwa,Chairperson FLO Ne Chapter 13-14 introduced the resource person and updated everyone about FLO and its activities. She also mentioned that, as a Chapter Chairperson, she is looking at empowerment in a holistic way. She added that this programme was a part of her initiative towards achieving the desired goal of empowerment , by endeavoring to enlighten young citizens with the basics of constitutional and legal knowledge.
Imm.past chair Queen Oja addressed the gathering and talked about various activities undertaken by FLO. Advocate Rakhee Chowdhury was felicitated by Monisha Baruwa and Queen Oja with an Assamese Gamusa and a token of appreciation.
Rakhee began her talk by highlighting on various aspects of the constitution of India and the importance of understanding the basic features. She touched upon the Article 14,15,16,32 and 226.She enlightened the students about R.T.I too.The students took active part in the talk and expressed their views on the reservation quota.Rakhee ended the session by reading out the Preamble of the Constitution of India to which the students gave a huge round of applause.
Past Chair Saroj Khemka proposed the vote of thanks with special mention to Advocate Rakhee,Mrs Minoti Chaudhury,GB member of the college,Principal Dr.Homeshwar Kalita,staff of the college and the students for being there and taking active participation.
