North East FLO Chapter members led by their Chairperson, Saroj Khemka, celebrated Children’s Day, at Guru Nanak Gurudwara School, Sweeper Colony, Guwahati. Chairperson Saroj Khemka and Vice Chairperson, Queen Oja, spoke on the importance and meaning attached to Children’s Day. The day is celebrated on the birthday of India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru because of his love for children, symbolized by the red rose which he always wore on his coat.
The students present, numbering about 50, turned out to be very enthusiastic and they entertained the audience with their singing talent. Goody bags arranged by the members were distributed among the children.
