Breast Cancer Awareness Program

FLO Chennai, in collaboration with Arpanam Trust, organized a Breast Cancer Awareness Program at the Arpanam venue on November 9th, 2024. The program benefited 70 women from the community. Led by Chairperson Dr. Divya Abhishek and Rural Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Vertical Head Ms. Jyothi Thomas, this program aimed to empower rural women with essential knowledge on breast health and early detection techniques.

The session was conducted by Dr. Sarita Damodara, an experienced oncologist, who provided detailed insights into the causes, symptoms, and risk factors of breast cancer. Using accessible language, she explained the importance of self-examinations and regular screenings, emphasizing how early detection can significantly increase survival rates.

The interactive event allowed the participants to engage directly with Dr. Damodara during a Q&A session. Several women asked questions, addressing their concerns and breaking down common myths about breast cancer. Dr. Damodara also demonstrated self-examination techniques.

The program fostered a sense of empowerment and awareness, with many women expressing gratitude for the knowledge they gained and the approachable environment. This collaborative effort highlighted FLO Chennai’s dedication to rural healthcare initiatives, bringing life-saving awareness to underserved communities and supporting women’s health education.
