Beyond the Darkness: The New Face of Tihar

Tihar Jail has always been known its varied reformatory programmes for inmates, from college degrees to vocational training. YFLO Delhi organised a visit to the prison that hosts the Tihar Jail Factory, the Tihar School of Art and the Fashion Laboratory in the women cell.

Tihar stresses on the rehabilitation of inmates, finding new and creative ways to engage and train inmates has not only proven to be therapeutic but may also provide many an opportunity for a normal life. The prisoners can sell the things they make like furniture, clothes, artwork etc. through the Tihar prison shops, jail’s website, as well as supplying to retail shops and, are allowed to keep the proceeds from the sale.
