FLO celebrated Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with Honb'le Defence Minister of India, Shri Rajnath Singh on
March 15 and General M.M Naravane, India’s 27th Chief of the Army Staff on March 16, 2022.
“Armed Forces will see a larger participation of women in the coming years due to the recent steps taken
by the Government,” said Rajnath Singh in his address.
The event ‘Celebrating Women’, on the theme ‘Women Transforming India’ was organised as part of
‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ being celebrated across the country to commemorate 75 years of
Independence. The Raksha Mantri lauded the FLO for organising the event which symbolises a ‘New India’
where men & women are making equal contribution in the overall development of the Nation.
On the occasion, rich tributes were paid to the Armed Forces personnel who made the supreme sacrifice
to safeguard the sovereignty and integrity of the Nation. Rich tributes were also paid to Bharat Ratna Late
Lata Mangeshkar. Her sister Ms Usha Mangeshkar received an award on behalf of Late Lata ji.
On March 16, 2022 , Army Chief General MM Naravane said that the Indian Army is committed not only
to give equal rights to women without gender discrimination, but will also help in building a career.
Women achievers from defence services were recognised on the occasion.
