The anticipated health and fitness programme was enthusiastically received by all members present. The session started with a talk by Dr.Renuka David on weight loss, who emphasized the need to have a customized plan according to one’s weight, lifestyle and medical history and that one routine does not fit for all. She also gave a demonstration of a few postures and asanas which can be followed everyday.
The next speaker Dr.Kousalya Nathan, who runs India’s first Anti Ageing clinic spoke on the importance and the need to look good inside out and that it is very important to take care of the kind of food that is consumed everyday. She shared tips on a good diet routine and that it should be a way of life to be practiced always, tips on better skin and hair regime.
After the speech of the doctors, an invigorating Question & Answer was conducted by the Day Chair Ms.Vimmi Depak which was well received. Following which a workout session by expert Mr.Senthil on Bokwa and Zumba was conducted. The high octane workout accompanied by a DJ with music. Two demonstrators, 2 LCD screens, alongwith Senthil turned the workout session into a cardio party. It was heartening to see 70 year old members participating side by side with 35 year old members- they exemplified the title of the programme that Age is just a number.
The tired but energized members then went to the Health kiosk which was available at the venue to check their height, weight and BMI. A physiotherapist was also available. Followed by a scrumptious lunch. A fitting end to a day of fitness.
