Aari Basic Training Course – St Gobain project

FLO Chennai conducted an upskilling course on October 19th, 2024 at Arpanam Trust. The Aari Basic Training course, part of the Upskilling Entrepreneurship Initiative supported by St. Gobain’s CSR program, to empower women in the community, teaches Aari embroidery. A total of 140 beneficiaries have been registered for the program and the participants have provided Aadhar details for a smooth enrollment process.

Under the guidance of Chairperson Ms. Divya Abhishek and Ms. Jyothi Thomas, the Vertical Head of Rural Entrepreneurship and Development, the training program had a batch size of 20 women. It includes both theoretical and practical components, equipping participants with valuable skills to enhance their employability and entrepreneurial potential.

There is an emphasis on community empowerment, and collaboration with St. Gobain plays a crucial role in facilitating this skill development initiative. On successful completion of the Aari Basic course, participants will be better equipped to explore employment opportunities and entrepreneurial ventures in the textile industry, contributing to the preservation of a rich cultural heritage.

The initiative not only increases the employability of the beneficiaries but also fosters self-reliance and economic independence among them. Moving forward, the program will set a precedent for future initiatives aimed at promoting traditional crafts and empowering women, ensuring sustainable opportunities within the community.
