Change of Guard

FICCI FLO North East Chapter had its Change of Guard Ceremony on the 26th April, 2015 at The Gauhati Club. The Guest of Honour for this special occasion was Ms. Zerifa Wahid – Noted Actor, Director and Social Activist.

The program started with the rendition of Ganesh Vandana by member Uma Deorah whose melodious singing set the mood of the function. There was a ceremonial lighting of Lamp by Ms. Zerifa along with Chairperson Smita Agarwal and Incoming Chairperson Joyshree Das Verma.

Chairperson Smita Agarwal addressed the august gathering of members and guests by apprising them of the year’s activities of FLO in the North East and a report on the year gone by. She thanked her Office members and Committee members for supporting her through the year and helping in all the activities.

After Smita’s speech, the formal change of Guard took place along with the exchange of medals. And Joyshree Das Verma was formally declared as the Chairperson 2015 –16.

New Chairperson Joyshree Das Verma then introduced Office Bearers 2015 – 2016 and medals were exchanged. Joyshree Das Verma gave her acceptance speech. She gave a brief of FLO and its objective and mission. She also apprised of the plans for her tenure and how it has to be aligned with National plans. She requested for help and support from every member to be more engaged, involved and also participates in all the activities and projects of the Chapter. The Chapter will be hosting the Inter State Meet in December 2015 and the focus will be to make it a very memorable event for all members to remember and cherish.

The office Bearers for 2015 – 16 are Indrani Deb – Senior Vice Chairperson, Prabidita Bharati – Vice Chairperson, Suruchi Agarwal – Secretary, Sarita Sikaria – Treasurer, Geetashree Barua – Joint Secretary and Vidhi Agarwal – Joint Treasurer. The new Chairperson also introduced the Executive Committee members.

Guest of Honour Ms. Zerifa was very impressed with the on time start of the ceremony and also found the camaraderie among members very commendable. She wanted to join hands with FLO for a number of causes that she is associated with. She brought to light issues of everyday life in which we need to bring about a change – hence propagate towards it.

The Change of Guard ceremony was conducted by Prabita Bharati, Vice Chairperson, 2015 –16.

The program ended with Vote of Thanks by Senior Vice Chairperson Indrani Deb, followed by high tea hosted by Smita Agarwal and Joyshree Das Verma.
