WOMAN-HER MANY FORMS

FLO ,Hyderabad chapter celebrated the spirit of womanhood on the international women’s day March 8th ,members walked in with their inspiration & attitude in true celebration mood. Rekha Lahoti welcomed the speakers and Past national president Ms. Namita Gautam s presence was enjoyed and acknowledged. Nina Davuluri Miss America 2014,a lawyer by profession and Elahe Hiptoola ,Film producer and Entrepreneur inspired all the members present.Mr. Sharath dutta GM Marriot hotel wished all the members and said 2016 they dedicated the year to women in leadership.

KEY POINTS

• Nina Davuluri is the first contestant of Indian descendent to win the title Miss America in 2014.
• She choose to work for a cause on personal platform ,celebrating diversity through cultural competence.Her challenge during growing years was to stay connected to Indian roots,values,heritage,and assimilating Indian culture
• The contest and winning gave her scholarship, platform and voice.she partnered with US department of stage.
• She feels India shaped her to fulfil American dream,her grandmother from Vijayawada and her mom influenced her to be who she is.
• She emphasized on women helping women and having the self esteem or selfworth is crucial for heathy growth of an individual and the society.
• Ms. Elahe Hiptoola mentioned her inspiration is her mother, and her mother never brought up Elahe and her brother with gender bias.
• She was inspired by a character in Shidney Sheldon s book Jennifer Parker and did her law but never pursued.She was later inspired by Abbu Jani & Sandeep Khosla and started designing ,later while she was cast in a movie by Nagesh Kukunoor in Hyderabad blues she wanted to do films.
• various subjects related to movies ,how she always admired Indira Gandhi,the sensibility in her movies like Iqbal & Dor were discussed
• Her film Dhanak won Grand prix at Berlin International film festival made her very proud.
• Lamakaan, a house which her uncle gave before dying to convert into a people s place has really become a hub of lot of culture, learning and bonding place and people own the place as her uncle dreamed of.
