An adda (fun interaction) with two young women achievers – Chiki Sarkar, publisher of Penguin India, and Sameera Iyengar, co-founder of Junoon Theatre, shared their experiences of being a Calcutta girl and importance of Calcutta in their lives at The Harrington Street Arts Centre. The adda continued with interesting talks of Chiki about Arts and at last with Sameera’s theatre workshop depicting random things – from river to monsoon to traffic to Durga puja. The adda ended with a street food feast for all the ladies.
Key Takeaways:
” The bookworm part of me comes from Calcutta” – said Chiki who has published some of the the biggest contemporary authors, from Arundhati Roy to Vikram Seth. “I do not know of too many other cities where I can sit in front of any group and say art is important and have a number of people nod their head.” – said by Sameera Iyengar.
