Threads of Legacy – Weaving Stories, Draping Dreams

FLO JKL, led by Chairperson Ms. Ruchika Gupta organized an impactful event titled “Threads of Legacy – Weaving Stories, Draping Dreams” at the creative studio of member, Pragya Aggarwal, attended by 30 people. The event aimed to highlight the revival of dying textile arts, showcasing the intricate craft of silver leaf printing on fabric.

Pragya, an alumna of UCL with a Master’s in Creative and Enterprise Management, has been working to turn textiles into narratives through her brand, ‘October’. Members witnessed how she turned fabrics like pashmina with hand-painting and silver embellishments into art.

Pragya shared her journey of collaborating with local artisans to bring regional crafts to the forefront. Members were given a first-hand experience of the weaving process on a loom and participated in a live demonstration of silver leaf printing, gaining deeper insights into the intricacies of textile craftsmanship.

The event also underscored the importance of restoring heirloom pieces, showcasing how traditional techniques can be adapted to modern sensibilities while preserving their cultural essence.
