The Art of Saree Draping: Blending Tradition & Creativity

FLO Chennai organised an engaging event on October 14th, 2024, at Welcomhotel, Chennai featuring Ms. Dolly Jain, the celebrated saree draping expert. The session was moderated by Ms. Amulya Rao Atluri, Joint Secretary of FLO Chennai and founder of Maggam.

The event provided attendees with valuable insights into the art and craft of saree draping. Ms. Jain, with over two decades of experience in this unique field, shared her personal stories, professional challenges, and achievements, offering deep information in her field.

Dolly Jain has redefined saree draping, making it accessible and stylish for a global audience. The session was enriched with anecdotes about her journey, including when the late actress Sridevi recognised her skill. Her hard work and determination led her to become a highly sought-after professional, styling numerous celebrities, including at prestigious events like the Met Gala. She has even set a record for the fastest saree drape, showcasing her versatility with 327 styles.

Throughout the event, she showcased various signature drapes such as the infinity style, mehendi looks, and regal lehenga drapes, while emphasising the importance of precision, practice, and an understanding of fabrics. She shared her experiences with social media, which has allowed her to reach a broader audience and inspire others worldwide.

The event was a resounding success as she discussed her challenges and triumphs, and offered valuable tips for brides and insights into the evolving world of saree draping.
