On the evening of August 8th, 2024, the FICCI FLO Jaipur Chapter proudly presented the Handloom & Textiles Fiesta—a vibrant celebration of Rajasthan’s rich textile heritage. Held at the majestic Hotel Clarks Amer, Jaipur, the event brought together the finest elements of tradition, craftsmanship, and modern elegance under one roof. Under the visionary leadership of Ms. Raghushree Poddar, Chairperson for the year 2024-25, this event was more than just a showcase; it was a tribute to the artisans who breathe life into Rajasthan’s timeless textiles and a commitment to sustainability.

Venue Details:

Hotel Clarks Amer, an iconic location in Jaipur, served as the perfect backdrop for the Handloom & Textiles Fiesta. The venue, known for its heritage-inspired architecture and spacious elegant halls, provided a fitting ambiance that complemented the event’s theme of celebrating Rajasthan’s cultural legacy. The venue was meticulously decorated with traditional Rajasthani elements, including handcrafted textiles and intricate motifs, enhancing the cultural experience for the attendees.

Key Highlights of the Event:

1) Press Conference and Discussion with Chitrangada Singh:

The evening began with a press conference where the graceful and inspiring Ms. Chitrangada Singh engaged in a heartfelt discussion with media partners, sponsors, past chairpersons and committee members. The conversation centered around the handloom initiative and the importance of preserving and promoting traditional textile arts. This interaction set the tone for the evening, emphasizing the event’s deeper purpose beyond just celebration.

2) A Tribute to Rajasthan’s Textile Legacy:

The Handloom & Textiles Fiesta was a true homage to Rajasthan’s textile heritage. The venue was adorned with displays of Bandhej, Lehariya, Ajrak, Gota Patti, Mirror work, and Kota Doria, each piece a testament to the skill and artistry of Rajasthan’s artisans. The evening offered guests an immersive experience, allowing them to appreciate the intricate details and craftsmanship that go into creating these timeless works of art.

3) Opening Remarks by Ms. Mayanka Meel:

The event officially commenced with welcoming remarks by Ms. Mayanka Meel, a dynamic committee member and the evening’s Master of Ceremonies. Her introduction highlighted the significance of the Handloom & Textiles Fiesta and set the stage for an evening filled with culture, fashion, and meaningful conversations.

4) Ramp Walk by Neeta Ji Boochra and Past Chairpersons:

One of the most memorable moments of the evening was the elegant ramp walk by Ms. Neeta Boochra, the esteemed founder of FICCI FLO Jaipur Chapter, alongside the past chairpersons (Ms. Shweta Chopra, Ms. Nitasha Chordia, Ms. Bela Badhalia). Dressed in stunning traditional Rajasthani attire, including Bhandhej & Lehariya Sarees, Block prints, and Mirror work, they embodied the spirit of Rajasthan’s textile heritage. This walk was not just a display of fashion but a powerful statement of cultural pride and leadership.

5) Vibrant Ramp Walk by Executive Committee Members:

Following the past chairpersons, the executive committee members took to the ramp, dressed in vibrant and colorful traditional Rajasthani outfits. This segment celebrated the event’s theme, with each member embodying the spirit of Rajasthan through their attire. The committee members’ walk added a lively and dynamic element to the evening, captivating the audience with their enthusiasm and grace.

6) Chitrangada Singh’s Grand Entrance:

The highlight of the evening was the much-anticipated entrance of Ms. Chitrangada Singh. Draped in a beautiful saree that featured intricate Rajasthani artwork, her presence elevated the event to new heights. As she graced the ramp, her elegance and poise left the audience spellbound, perfectly blending tradition with modern sophistication.

7) Powerful Walk by Ms. Chitrangada Singh and Ms. Raghushree Poddar:

A moment of pure inspiration was witnessed when Ms. Chitrangada Singh and Ms. Raghushree Poddar, Chairperson of FICCI FLO Jaipur Chapter, walked the ramp together. 8) Inspiring Talk Show:

A thought-provoking talk show followed, featuring an engaging conversation between Ms. Chitrangada Singh and Chairperson Ms. Raghushree Poddar. The discussion touched on various topics, including women empowerment, educating the girl child from a young age making them strong and independent, the challenges of parenting in the digital age, the joy of dancing as a form of inner happiness expression. They also discussed the significance of pursuing one’s passion while maintaining emotional health. The talk show resonated deeply with the audience, leaving them inspired and empowered.

9) Inauguration of the Tree Plantation Drive:

The event also marked the beginning of an important environmental initiative—the planting of 1,111 trees throughout the month of August. This drive, symbolizing a commitment to a greener future, was inaugurated by Ms. Chitrangada Singh. She planted the first Ashoka tree, officially giving a kick start to the plantation drive. This initiative not only reflects FLO’s dedication to sustainability but also adds a meaningful layer to the cultural celebration. The trees will be planted as a birthday gift for the FLO members, with trees being planted in their honor throughout the month.

10) Artisan Showcase and Collaboration with CCWA:

A major attraction of the evening was the participation of skilled artisans and craftsmen, or “bunkars,” in collaboration with the Craft Council of Weavers and Artisans (CCWA). These artisans showcased their handcrafted products, including textiles that represent the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan. Their participation not only highlighted the intricate skills and dedication of these craftsmen but also provided them with a platform to generate employment and promote their crafts. The event successfully created an economic impact for the artisans, with three of them directly benefiting from the evening’s activities.

In recognition of their invaluable contributions to preserving and promoting traditional crafts, the artisans were felicitated by Ms. Chitrangada Singh.
