A group of 130 enthusiastic women from the FICCI FLO Jaipur Chapter, accompanied by two National FLO Governing Body members, embarked on a remarkable journey to the Western Naval Command in Mumbai. This tour, led by Chairperson Raghushree Poddar, marked the Jaipur Chapter’s inaugural visit to this esteemed naval establishment and aimed to provide members with an in-depth understanding of the Indian Navy’s operations and celebrate the spirit of our armed forces.
The Western Naval Command, a crucial arm of the Indian Navy, oversees operations along India’s western coastline and plays a pivotal role in national security and maritime superiority. The tour began with an early flight from Jaipur, landing in Mumbai amidst heavy rains. Despite the weather, the group’s excitement was palpable as they traveled to the Command, building anticipation for the day ahead.
Upon arrival, the group was warmly welcomed by Captain ATLA Mohan, who provided an enlightening briefing on the Command’s operations, fleet composition, and technological advancements in naval vessels. This briefing was a significant moment for many, including Chairperson Raghushree Poddar, who had long aspired to gain insights into the complexities of naval operations.
The participants were then divided into three groups for an immersive tour experience. One group visited the warship INS Mormugao, exploring its radar systems and luxurious amenities. Another group toured a submarine, experiencing the confined spaces and advanced technology that allow these vessels to operate underwater. The third group explored the dockyard, witnessing the maintenance and logistical operations essential for fleet readiness.
The day featured a delightful breakfast prepared by the Navy and an exclusive lunch hosted by Vice Admiral Sanjay J Singh, Chief in Command. This luncheon provided a rare opportunity for attendees to engage with high-ranking naval officers and discuss strategic and operational aspects of the Navy. The formal dinner at the Commander’s Mess, attended by Rear Admiral Ajay Kochhar, Fleet Commander RAdm Praveen Nair, and other esteemed officers, offered a chance to experience the Navy’s traditions and camaraderie.
The tour provided valuable insights into the disciplined and resilient lifestyle of naval personnel, highlighting their dedication and the sacrifices they make. The participants were deeply inspired by the officers’ ability to perform under challenging conditions, fostering a greater appreciation for the armed forces.
The event, attended by 130 members from the FICCI FLO Jaipur Chapter and two National FLO Governing Body members, was a landmark experience that enriched their understanding of the Indian Navy’s role and operations. The tour concluded with expressions of gratitude and admiration for the Navy, leaving the participants with a profound appreciation for the armed forces and a renewed sense of patriotism.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Western Naval Command for their warm hospitality, memorable souvenirs, medallions, and shields. This tour has left an indelible mark on all participants, deepening their respect for the Indian Navy and its selfless service to the nation.
