Heeramandi: Exploring the Saga of the Magnificent Jewellery: Conversations with the creators

FICCI FLO organized an exclusive event titled “Heeramandi: Exploring the Saga of the Magnificent Jewellery” under the National Initiative – the FLO Fashion & Jewellery Initiative. The session aimed to delve into the intricate artistry behind the exquisite Mughal-inspired jewellery featured in the acclaimed Netflix series “Heeramandi – The Diamond Bazaar,” directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

The standout feature of the show, the stunning jewellery was created by the talented designers Vinay and Anshu Gupta of Shri Paramani Jewels, New Delhi. The Guptas were entrusted with the monumental task of crafting an astonishing 10,000 pieces of high jewellery. What made their contribution even more special was their family heritage, tracing back to the treasurers of the Mughal empire.

The highlight of the session was the conversation with Vinay and Anshu Gupta, who shared their journey and the intricate process of creating the jewellery for “Heeramandi.” Their dedication to preserving and celebrating the legacy of Mughal jewellery was truly inspiring. The audience was enthralled as the Guptas narrated the story behind their incredible contribution, detailing how their traditional craftsmanship brought historical narratives to life with enchanting authenticity.

This event was under the ambit of the FLO Fashion & Jewellery Initiative, led by National Head Anjali Aggarwal and supported by a dynamic team of members including Lubeina Shahpurwala, Nidhi Goel, Pooja Khemka, Rajmati Binaykia, Ritika Sarna, and Ambar Pariddi Sahai. This initiative aims to provide a robust platform for showcasing talent, fostering innovation, and creating valuable networking opportunities within the fashion and jewellery industry. The objective is to empower women in these sectors through various programs, workshops, and collaborations, enhancing their skills, facilitating market access, and contributing to the industry’s growth and development in India.

As an added feature of the session, attendees had the opportunity to view some of the exquisite jewellery pieces used in ‘Heeramandi,’ showcasing the intricate craftsmanship and historical significance of these stunning creations.
