Industrial Visit to Azad Engineering

Industrial visits are invaluable as they broaden our horizons, deepening our understanding of the industrial landscape and the innovative processes at work behind the scenes.

FLO Hyderabad organised a visit to Azad Engineering on 27th April, 2024. Azad Engineering is one of the key manufacturers of highly engineered, complex and mission- and life-critical components for the aerospace, defense, energy, and oil and gas industries. Some of their products have a ‘zero parts per million’ defects requirement. Their customers include global brands such as Rolls Royce, Pratt & Whitney, Boeing, General Electric, Honeywell International Inc., Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., Siemens Energy, Eaton Aerospace, Rafael, Skoda Power, etc. The 15-years old Azad Engineering that got listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange in December 2023, boasts International cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar amongst its ace investors.

The visit was an eye opener for members, who were amazed to see how highly sophisticated components are being made right here in India, and how cutting-edge robotics is redefining precision manufacturing. The visit ended with a sumptuous lunch organised by Azad Engineering.

Key highlights of the initiative

· Observing first-hand the advanced manufacturing processes and innovative techniques provided valuable insights into how modern engineering solutions are implemented in real-world settings especially in the areas of robotics, and automation

· Hearing from the leaders of Azad Engineering about their journey, the challenges they faced, and their strategic visions provided motivational and practical leadership lessons

· Understanding the operational strategies that drive Azad Engineering’s success served as invaluable lessons in supply chain management, quality control, and lean manufacturing practices which provided practical knowledge that can be applied in various business contexts

· The zero-defect manufacturing processes were an eye-opener on quality control and quality assurance

The visit gave the members a reasonable perspective of the highly specialised sector of manufacturing of life critical components, used in oil and gas, energy, aviation and space sectors
