FLO organised a special event titled ‘Fearless Governance and Leadership’ featuring the eminent and inspiring Dr. Kiran Bedi on August 17, 2023, at FICCI. Dr. Kiran Bedi is a renowned social activist, former IPS officer, and the first woman to join the Indian Police Service. She was the 24th Lt Governor of Puducherry and has served the United Nations as Civilian Police Advisor in Peace Keeping Operations.
In this session, Dr Bedi shared her extraordinary journey and experiences in public service, inspiring countless individuals to lead fearlessly and make a positive impact on society. Dr Bedi said that women must be more mobile, visible, fearless, and interactive in order to become effective leaders. “Women are born managers at home, office or any other field and fit for governance .
Feminism isn’t about making women stronger. They are already strong. It is about changing the way the world perceives that strength,” she added. Answering a question from the audience, she expressed that economic empowerment of women is the catalyst of transformation in the society. “If one woman/girl empowers 10 women/girls a revolution of great order would get started” she said.
