Coca Cola Factory Visit

Over the course of two days nearly 100 FLO KOLKATA members got the opportunity to visit the 51 years old Diamond Beverages (P)Ltd, an authorised bottling plant of Coca Cola company, in the heart of Kolkata city. The sprawling 3.5 lac sq ft factory is equipped with a state-of-the-art manufacturing, bottling, labelling and distributing facility, producing the high in demand soft drink and mineral water brands like Thumbs up, Sprite, Fanta, Limca, Minute Maid, Kinley, etc.

On reaching the members were briefed about the process of manufacturing and the details about the operations of the plant through a presentation. They were also provided with the necessary gear for maintaining hygiene and were segregated in smaller groups to see the different sections of the plant. The employees joined as guides and gave detailed information about every step of the processes including how the concentrate and water are mixed to make a particular drink, following which a small piece of pet plastic is blown into a bottle filled with the beverage, capped, labelled, finally packed into crates, all in an automated way.

The members came to know many amazing facts; for instance, every minute 400 bottles are processed in the plant and that the plant caters to over 50,000 retail shops and commands a strong 75% share in the market. The members came back happy with souvenirs and cold drink bottles.
