Confluence of two Cultures: Interaction with a family of artists- Sakti Burman, Maite Delteil & Maya Burman

We began the evening with a guided walkthrough to view the art works of the renowned family of artists – Sakti Burman, Maite Delteil and Maya Burman and understand the distinct painting styles of each.

In conversation with Sunaina Anand, founder of Artalive Gallery, Sakti Burman walked us through his journey as an artist. He elaborated on living in France for the last five decades while maintaining strong ties with India and how the influence of the places he inhabited reflects in his artwork.Maite Delteil spoke aboutpainting their own versions of nature, inspired by the detailing of Indian miniatures. Maya Burmanwho studied architecture but ended up becoming a painter, explained how her works have always depicted her own universe – an amalgamation of the little and big things that constantly came back to her paintings.

Their unique journeys and identities came across in their art and we were able to understand the confluence of two cultures, India and France, that came alive in their works.
