An interactive session titled ‘Leadership Lessons & Success Story of Amul’ was organised with Dr. R. S. Sodhi as the Keynote Speaker.
Dr. R.S. Sodhi is the Managing Director of GCMMF ltd. (AMUL), India’s biggest food and dairy company having annual turnover of $5.5 billion or Rs. 38500 crores. A distinguished personality, Dr. Sodhi has been associated with Amul since 1982, and his mentor was none other than Dr. Verghese Kurien – “the Father of the White Revolution”. His contributions to Amul have been phenomenal.
Amul, one of the most beloved brands of our country, has become the taste of India, just as its tagline claims.
The story of Amul, started as revolution to help poor dairy farmers and landless labourers and went on to becoming a very big Indian brand.
Dr Sodhi said that the success of Amul can be attributed to consistency in business structure and philosophy, product recipes and quality, communication, and HR practices.
He also highlighted two important interrelated philosophies of Amul are: Value for many and Value for money, which refer to serve the interests of milk producer and to provide quality products to consumers, respectively. Amul ensures that 80% – 86% of consumer’s rupee goes back to its dairy farmers.

Attended by over 225 participants, it was not just an informative session about the success story of Amul but also a very apt platform to learn from Dr. Sodhi’s rich and varied experience as an influential and inspiring leader.
