Plog Run

Logging is a combination of jogging with picking up plastic litter. India Plog Run is a ‘first of its kind’ initiative, an effort to make the country free of single-use plastic and to sensitize people on effective management of plastic disposal. It will mobilize over 2 lakh citizens, in 50 cities, covering 500 locations and cleaning 7.5 lakh kilometres, all on a single day. It is an initiative by United Way of India to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on Plastic Awareness campaign. Swacch Bharat Mission (SBM – U) is also supporting this initiative in alignment with our prime minister’s message to ban single-use plastic. Ficci FLO aims to create awareness to further this agenda. Digital certificates were sent to the email id of the participant.

Mirroring the Mahatmas lines, FLO Chennai was a part of the India Plog Run today where 365 citizens between the ages of 5 and 74 years participated in a beach clean-up with high energy drummers and students of Stella Maris College, Sishya and other reputed schools and corporates got together for an inspiring morning to rid the city of plastic waste and sensitise citizens on effective waste disposal measures.
