Dopehri – Dramatic Reading in Hindustani

FLO Bangalore brought to Bangalore, DOPHERI, written and directed by Pankaj Kapur, produced by Supriya Pathak Kapur, set in the streets of Lucknow, where sits the haveli of an old, lonely woman Amma Bi. Pankaj Kapur narrated her story, in his own words, bringing alive the characters, taking us through the emotions and shades of these characters in the setting of an old-time Lucknow. Dopehri is a novella written by Pankaj Kapur, that he rendered on stage, with the creative use of lights and music, taking us through Amma Bi’s journey from loneliness to self-discovery. Was a real treat to watch Pankaj Kapur walk across the stage, reading aloud and breathing life into each of these characters with his enigmatic voice.

The message of women empowerment was very strongly put across. Truly a tale of how a young girl empowers and the old lady to finding purpose and a new life! We had a packed auditorium of 1000+ people. We had invited our skilling partners and some NGO s too to be a meaningful part of the evening.
