Launch of the Green Warrior Initiative

FLO Bangalore chapter takes active measures to skill women at grassroots level and to improve their economic independence. In addition to cooking, Mehndi training and Garland making – one of the key skill track is bag stitching in collaboration with two of our partner NGOs. The women have basic skills in stitching. FLO subject matter experts have helped and coached the women to put the skills to use & make cloth bags to support the environment sustainability initiatives. Benazir Raza foundation team made simple shopping totes and Vidya centre stitched grocery bags multiple pockets. With the FLO green warrior logo printed on, these bags were a super sell-out in the FLO Bazar.

The women were paid from the sale proceeds and this will be an ongoing corpus to get better tools and machines to setup an effective stitching centre in these NGOs.

The cloth bag stitching initiative has been setup by FLO Bangalore who will market this initiative and generate custom orders that these women can fulfil. Enquiries are flowing in and along with our mentorship, the women make samples for approval before production. As a next step, we are in conversation with SINGER, the sewing machine giant to set up the Singer training centre at these NGO’s, thereby assist these women and create a platform to learn and complete a structured certification program while earning through the custom orders.
