FICCI Ladies Organisation, with Vital Voices, organised the Global Mentoring Walk in New Delhi, India on March 8, 2019, at Garden of Five Senses, Saket.
The FLO Vital Voices’ Global Mentoring Walk is an opportunity to highlight the importance of women’s leadership, and to accelerate the impact of women leaders through mentoring.
This Year, commemorating the occasion of International Women’s Day international women leaders from Vital Voices’ Global Leadership Network will walk together in more than 62 countries leading to 174+ walks across the Globe. FLO, the oldest and largest Women Chamber of Commerce in South East Asia, has been working towards equality and empowerment of women for the past 35 years.
For The Global Mentoring Walk in New Delhi, FLO has joined hands with Vital Voices Global Leadership Network, which is the leading non-governmental organization (NGO) that identifies, trains and empowers emerging women leaders and social entrepreneurs around the globe, enabling them to create a better world.
ARCH College of Design & Business, based out of Jaipur is the Knowledge partner in this initiative. ELSA – the Lady Shri Ram College Alumni Association was also a partner for this initiative along with Women Mentors’ Forum. She the People was the Media Partner.
During the Walk, the mentors like Kishwar Desai, Founder, Partition Museum, Bindu Manchanda, Director Projects, INTACH ,Nelofar Currimbhoy, President, Shahnaz Hussain International, Fashion Designers Pratima Pandey, Urvashi Kaur, Vasvi Bharat Ram, Former FLO President ,Designer Sandhya Raman, Wellness Expert Angelina Puri and other eminent women shared their achievements, challenges and strategies in their journey and guided the aspiring ones, motivating them to grow in their respective areas.
They also highlighted on the importance of building strong mentoring partnerships with young mentees, resulting in enhanced personal, professional and business development, thereby creating a pool of future women leaders, nurtured by existing ones. “Paying it forward” is the intent, on which this mentor-mentee relationship is based upon.
FLO President, Pinky Reddy said, “Mentorship and guidance are the key tools that has the potential to help women entrepreneurs and professionals grow their businesses, and in many cases, change their lives. The objective of the Mentoring Walk is to link established women entrepreneurs & professionals as mentors to emerging ones. This linkage will bring them together under one platform, to walk together and discuss their professional challenges and successes and establish a mentoring relationship, in which the seasoned leader guides, advises and supports her peer.’’
