FICCI FLO North East under chairperson Sarita Sikaria, held another interesting program related to women empowerment. On 16th July 2018 two self-empowered and self-made women filmmakers, shared the stage to talk about their journeys in the world of Cinema. Manju Borah, a writer turned filmmaker, who herself is a national and international awardee, was in conversation with Rima Das, the celebrated producer, director, scriptwriter, editor and cinematographer of the award-winning movie “Village Rockstars”.
The film is only the second Assamese movie in 30 years to win the coveted National Award, the Swarn Kamal, for the best feature film, in 2017. It also won the best child artist, best location sound recording and best editing awards. It has received numerous national and international accolades and awards. Rima Das was accompanied to the program by her mother, and by Bhanita Das, the child artiste who played the protagonist “Dhunu” in Village Rockstars.
The event was facilitated by FLO NE past chairperson Joyshree Das Verma, compered by member Mitali Saraf, and the vote of thanks was given by Juhie Saboo.
