FLO organised an interactive Session with Shri Satish Upadhyay, State President of BJP in Delhi State Unit on Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. The Abhiyaan was launched by Honb’le Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi on October 2, 2014 as a national campaign for a cleaner India.
An excellent opportunity was provided to FLO, to join hands in this cause and contribute towards spreading awareness about this initiative, under the leadership of Ms. Harjinder Kaur, Jt. Treasurer, who has been nominated as one of the jewels for Swachh Dilli Abhiyaan, Delhi.
FLO has been effectively working in this direction and contributing towards the noble cause. 3 groups were formed to initiate the Campaign in Delhi – Advocacy, Awareness and Action Group. A pledge was also signed to contribute our bit to this noble cause & join hands in making the dream of a Clean India a reality.
FLO members have been regularly interacting with principals, teachers, students, workers and other stakeholders in these schools and implementing the Cleanliness Drive as also educating and encouraging them to spread further awareness. The Action Group has successfully implemented FLO’s Action plan in 2 School in Katwariya Sarai, South Delhi and 2 schools in Rohini.
In Gurgaon too, various initiatives have been taken up under the leadership of Harjinder kaur, Jt. Treasurer and guidance of Rao Narbir Singh Yadav, pwd minister, Govt of Haryana.
The interactive session was organized to highlight various initiatives under taken by FLO Members under a pilot project on Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan as also understand the way forward, in making further contribution towards this campaign.
FLO President Neeta Boochra said, ” It is definitely a step ahead in empowering ourselves with a sense of responsibility towards the nation and make intelligent contribution towards the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister.”
Shri Satish Upadhyay applauded the initiatives taken by FLO and complimented for working in a very structured and in-depth manner towards achieving the true objectives of the Swachh Bharat Mission. He said that it is essential to understand that this is not just a one day event but a thought process which needs to be developed, so that Cleanliness becomes a way of living. “Saaf Karein, Saaf Rahein aur Saaf Soche”, was the key message that he delivered during his Address.
Pilot projects were picked up at ITIs and primary schools of MCDs, and awareness and training sessions of the school teachers, students and workers were held. The Schools were monitored, given inputs and finally competitions were organised in schools in various categories of Cleanliness. Selected Principals, Teachers, Students and Workers were felicitated during the session. A presentation was also made to highlight the model followed by FLO to spread awareness on the Swachh Bharat Campaign. The same model will be replicated further in various schools.
Harjinder Kaur further identified 7 Ratnas from MCD School and 7 Ratnas from FLO to spread awareness on this initiative. FLO Ratnas felicitated during the session were- Namita Gautam, Nidhi Goel, Garima Singhvi, Sandhya Sethi, Poonam Sharma, Shashi Agarwal and Monika Choudhury. Each of the 7 Ratnas have formulated their own respective Agendas for the next 5 years, to work towards the Swachh Bharat Initiative. Shobha Vijender Gupta & Aarti Upadhyay were also recognised at the programme.
Nidhi Goel, FLO member delivered the Vote of Thanks. She also hosted the hi-tea.
